Comedian Joel McHale ripped the absence Vice President at the dinner, ten years ago
Video has resurfaced on social media of Joe Biden being mocked for his cognitive abilities at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner way back in 2014.
“The Vice President isn’t here tonight. Not for security reasons. He just thought this event was being held at the Dulles Airport Appleby’s,” jibed comedian Joel McHale.
“Yes, right now Joe is elbow-deep in jalapeno poppers and talking to a construction cone he thinks is John Boehner.”
President Obama can be seen laughing enthusiastically at the joke.
McHale continues.
“It’s crazy to think that Joe Biden is only one heartbeat away from no-one taking him seriously as president.”
McHale then apologizes to somebody off-camera, presumably President Obama.
The clip elicited a variety of responses on Twitter.
Elon Musk tweeted a “mind blown” emoji.
While many posted memes mocking President Biden, others were less sanguine in their response.
“Our enemies know,” tweeted one user. “That’s the worst part and why we’re getting raked over the coals everywhere. He oozes weakness and ineptitude. That’s an invitation for invasion. Which is literally happening.”
