UPDATE 7:28 p.m. ET: Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said a “person of interest” is in custody this evening though no charges were immediately announced, the Associated Press reported.

Utah authorities said at a news briefing that the shooter wore dark clothing and fired from a roof on campus some distance away, the AP added.

Blaze News revised its previous headline and below reference to FBI Director Kash Patel in regard to a suspect in custody; the headline now reads “person of interest” and the previous update now reads “subject.”

A single AP headline posted around 6:30 p.m. ET in the live update feed reads “Person suspected in fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk now in custody, FBI director says.” The AP also noted in a summary at the top of its live update piece that “a person suspected in the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk is now in custody, according to a social media post from FBI Director Kash Patel.”

UPDATE 6:35 p.m. ET: FBI Director Kash Patel posted on X Wednesday evening that a subject is now in custody after the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk earlier in the day on a college campus in Utah.

“The subject for the horrific shooting today that took the life of Charlie Kirk is now in custody,” Patel wrote on the social media platform. “Thank you to the local and state authorities in Utah for your partnership with @fbi. We will provide updates when able.”

UPDATE 5 p.m. ET: Blaze News has confirmed through multiple sources that Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was murdered Wednesday on a college campus in Utah.

Scott Trotter, a spokesman for Utah Valley University, released a statement saying the suspect is not yet in custody, Deseret News reported: “On September 10, 2025, at 12:20 a single shot rang out in the quad near the food court on the Utah Valley University Orem Campus as Mr. Charlie Kirk began speaking at his planned rally. We can confirm that Mr. Kirk was shot, but we don’t know his condition. The suspect is not in custody. Police are still investigating. Campus is closed for the rest of the day.”

Blaze News changed the headline of this initial report to reflect new information about the suspect as well as Kirk’s death.

UPDATE 4:17 p.m. ET: The New York Times, citing Scott Trotter, a university spokesman, reported that police determined that a person who was taken into custody after the shooting was not actually the shooter.

Blaze News has removed from its original report an X post and references to it showing a video of a man kneeling on the ground who was believed to be the shooter.

UPDATE 3:49 p.m. ET: Deseret News now reports that initially it was believed a shooter was in custody, but the outlet just updated its story saying that a first responder indicated officials aren’t sure they have the shooter and that the suspect may still be at large.

A suspect is in custody after conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was shot Wednesday at an outdoor event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Deseret News reported.

The outlet said bystanders reported seeing Kirk shot near his neck during a Q&A with students.

Deseret News cited a UVU alert to students that indicated a suspect is in custody. The outlet added that the campus has been evacuated.

“A single shot was fired on campus toward a visiting speaker. Police are investigating now, suspect in custody,” the alert reads, according to Deseret.

The suspect’s name wasn’t immediately released, the outlet added.

Blaze News has reached out to campus communications and police in Orem for additional information.

Charlie James Kirk, a 31-year-old father of two and husband to Erika Kirk, was fatally shot and killed by an assassin at a Utah Valley University event in Orem, Utah, on Wednesday afternoon.

“Charlie Kirk was one of one. He was a gifted communicator, loving husband and father, visionary builder, and a faithful Christian. He was also my friend,” said Blaze Media CEO Tyler Cardon. “He was the most effective representative of conservative Christian values of his generation. A force of nature. I will miss him dearly.”

Blaze News editor in chief Matthew Peterson said, “This is a terrible day for America, and we must all pray for the repose of Charlie’s soul, for his family, and for our divided nation.”

Peterson continued, “His voice mattered for a reason. He was constantly and fearlessly working harder to make America great again and solve the looming problems of our age. He built an organization and reputation that ultimately helped staff and guide the current Trump administration.”

Kirk noted in his book “Time for a Turning Point” that he had committed his life “to fighting to restore, perhaps finish building, an America that was envisioned by our Founding Fathers.”

At the age of 18, the native of Prospect Heights, Illinois, founded his vehicle for this restoration: Turning Point USA, a non-profit organization committed to empowering students to promote the principles of fiscal responsibility, free markets, and a limited government.

‘He never stopped building, he never stopped learning, and he never stopped doing.’

TPUSA, whose revenue exceeded $81 million in 2022, has not only influenced multiple American elections but has also sparked difficult conversations, changed perspectives, and helped build new connections on campus.

Critics have made sure to mention over the years that Kirk did not personally complete college. This persistent reminder made it all the more impressive when the young man would cut through academic theses like a hot knife through butter; when he coolly dismantled the best arguments that Oxford Union speakers could muster; and when he befriended the leader of the free world.

Peterson, who first met Kirk in class sessions he was teaching while heading up the Claremont Institute’s Lincoln Fellowship program, noted, “As a 2021 Lincoln Fellow, Charlie was a revelation: He was a bright light, a sharp student, and one of the best of the Fellows. He sought us out and wanted to be there in order to learn. Charlie then rose to his current position as a leader of this movement in the last few years because he never stopped building, he never stopped learning, and he never stopped doing.”

While Kirk would on occasion volunteer some criticism, he was to the end a resolute defender and friend of President Donald Trump, who on two occasions was himself nearly assassinated.

Trump noted in a statement, “No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”

“The President has confirmed what I can scarcely bring myself to say: my dear friend, Charlie Kirk, is gone,” wrote Blaze Media co-founder Glenn Beck. “In all my years, I have spoken tens of millions of words—but tonight, I have none.

“Tomorrow, many of his friends and his Blaze family will join me on national radio and podcast as we try to honor him. I pray that God grants me the words worthy of such a man, though I know none of us could ever truly capture the depth of his faith, his courage, and his love for this country.”

“Pray, please, for his family. And pray for our republic, which has lost one of its most faithful defenders. I can only imagine the joy that must now fill his heart as he hears those words we all long to hear: ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant.’ Rest well, Charlie. Until we meet again.”

Blaze Media co-founder Mark Levin stated, “This is difficult to even write: We lost an extraordinary human being and patriot today, who was murdered by an assassin’s bullet. But Charlie’s legacy will never, ever be silenced. He touched and influenced not a few or a few thousand, but hundreds of thousands.”

“I knew Charlies well over many years. We were together during Salem radio KRLA events in L.A., I had him on TV and radio, I attended a few of his TPUSA events, he was a fan of my books, etc. He was a delight. Always curious. Happy. Joyous. Social. Articulate. Brilliant. Strategic. And much more,” Levin continued. “This is a dark and grave day. I cannot imagine the grief his wife and children and all his family are experiencing. God bless them, help them, and protect them.”

Peterson recalled, “I interviewed him about statesmanship not long ago, and it occurred to me that above all, what Charlie was truly about was just that: statesmanship. Charlie Kirk was a leading statesman of his generation. And that is why what happened today was political assassination.”

Liberals at the Southern Poverty Law Center, CNN, and other outfits had long painted a target on Charlie Kirk’s back as they had Trump, smearing him as an extremist or worse — a dangerous game in light of polling data that indicate a great many on the American left are bloodthirsty and keen to advance their agenda by any means necessary.

‘I worship a God that defeats evil.’

Charlie Kirk is among those who stood up to radicals when it mattered most; spoke out against the left’s extreme agenda when it was at its strongest; and changed minds through spirited debate despite an unrelenting onslaught of vicious attacks by political and cultural elites.

A gunman evidently chose to silence a great man on Wednesday because his words and ideas were too powerful to rebut. Kirk is, however, not only survived by his loving wife, Erika Kirk, and two young children but by a movement that he has left permanently energized.

Kirk knew full well that some victories take time, but most importantly, that the ultimate victory belongs to God.

“I worship a God that defeats evil,” Kirk said at a TPUSA rally for Trump last year. “And we worship a God that wins in the end.”

The political world is mourning the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, and many voices on the left are calling for civility and an end to political violence.

Among those are former President Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, who posted their responses on social media. Kirk was celebrated on the right as the founder and CEO of Turning Point USA.

‘The best way to honor Charlie’s memory is to continue his work: engage with each other, across ideology, through spirited discourse.’

“There is no place in our country for this kind of violence. It must end now. Jill and I are praying for Charlie Kirk’s family and loved ones,” the former president said.

Former President Barack Obama also responded.

“We don’t yet know what motivated the person who shot and killed Charlie Kirk, but this kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy,” he wrote. “Michelle and I will be praying for Charlie’s family tonight, especially his wife Erika and their two young children.”

Kirk was debating with students Wednesday on his national campus tour at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, when a gunshot rang out. He was shot in the neck and was pronounced dead later at a hospital.

Democratic U.S. Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania condemned the shooting and then responded after the death was announced.

“I condemn this in the strongest terms. There is ZERO place in our great country for these horrendous acts of political violence,” Fetterman wrote.

“Our family grieves for Charlie Kirk’s family. We must collectively find a way forward during these polarized times,” he added in a second message.

Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom also denounced political violence after news of the shooting had broken.

“The attack on Charlie Kirk is disgusting, vile, and reprehensible. In the United States of America, we must reject political violence in EVERY form,” he wrote.

He added a long message after news of Kirk’s death.

“We should all feel a deep sense of grief and outrage at the terrible violence that took place in Utah today. Charlie Kirk’s murder is sick and reprehensible, and our thoughts are with his family, children, and loved ones,” he posted.

“I knew Charlie, and I admired his passion and commitment to debate. His senseless murder is a reminder of how important it is for all of us, across the political spectrum, to foster genuine discourse on issues that deeply affect us all without resorting to political violence,” Newsom added. “The best way to honor Charlie’s memory is to continue his work: engage with each other, across ideology, through spirited discourse.”

Some liberal influencers also chimed in.

“I don’t agree with anything Charlie Kirk says, but I will never, not ever, condone politically motivated violence of any kind. And I honest to God, hope he’s ok,” liberal activist Joanne Carducci responded.

A suspect was detained, according to a statement from FBI Director Kash Patel. President Donald Trump has ordered for flags to be flown at half-mast in Kirk’s memory.

A family who witnessed conservative influencer Charlie Kirk’s murder said panic struck the crowd when a gunshot went off.

Kirk was shot in the neck Wednesday during an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

Deanna Holland drove to the event with her family from Utah County, about 20 minutes away. Holland told Blaze News that she brought her two daughters, ages 14 and 18, and her son, 12, because they were huge fans of Kirk and wanted to meet him in person.

‘From what I can tell, there was a shooter on a rooftop.’

Holland said her young son was standing in line to ask Kirk a question as she watched from behind in the crowd.

“[He stood] just to the side of that line because he’s small and he was excited to speak with Charlie,” Holland told Blaze News.

While she was nearby with her two daughters, “there was one very loud shot,” she recalled.

“My son and my 14-year-old daughter both saw Charlie get shot.”

“Everybody dropped,” Holland said.

Immediately, the elder daughter went looking for her brother, while Holland and the younger daughter headed for safety.

“I took my 14-year-old and went down towards the front underneath the cement. Right behind Charlie, there was a cement walkway that had [an overhang]. You could walk underneath it.”

The mother then started yelling for her other child.

“At that point in time, I just was yelling for my son, asking people to yell his name.”

Thankfully, Holland quickly noticed that her son was underneath the same cement walkway.

Police soon came down to the location, Holland remembered, and her family was then ushered into a grassy area to safety.

Holland described the gunshot as “very loud” and claimed that it came from her right and “up high,” which would have been to Kirk’s right as well.

“From what I can tell, there was a shooter on a rooftop,” Holland added. “There was not a shooter that I could tell in the general crowd.”

Despite the chaos, Holland said she was having a great time at the event while it was happening. She described the crowd as “a bunch of very patriotic college students” who would have “done what they needed to do” to protect Kirk if they could have.

After the fact, Holland’s young son revealed to her that he was brought to the cement area by a college-age girl who was also waiting in line to ask Kirk a question.

The boy wondered if she was there to disagree with or debate Kirk, given that she was wearing what he described as a “satanic T-shirt.”

“After the shot was fired, she was the one to take my son to safety under the bridge. He was even wearing a pro-life shirt at the time,” Holland said. “I just want to thank that young woman, whoever she is.”

Kirk’s murder is still under investigation at the time of this writing. FBI Director Kash Patel announced on X Wednesday evening, “The subject for the horrific shooting today that took the life of Charlie Kirk is now in custody.”

Greg Gutfeld issued a fiery warning after the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk during “The Five” show on Fox News.

Many on the right and the left have offered condolences and prayers for the family of the Turning Point USA founder, who was shot and killed during a college campus event in Utah Wednesday.

‘If they can do this, they can do anything. I think that was the message. I believe that was the message.’

Gutfeld offered his condolences but then launched into a defiant tirade against those who wanted to use violence to shut down political opposition.

“I know that it’s somewhat an object of mockery to say ‘thoughts and prayers,’ but thoughts and prayers for his family. They need it from all of us,” Gutfeld said after co-host Jesse Watters spoke about Kirk.

“And Jesse’s right, if they can do this, they can do anything. I think that was the message. I believe that was the message,” he added. “It’s really hard to radicalize Republicans. You know, we’re not the radical type. But if you thought that you were going to shut a movement down, you’re going to get a rude awakening.”

He added emphatically, “You woke us the f**k up!”

Video of Gutfeld’s warning was circulated widely on social media.

Reactions on social media poured in after reports surfaced that conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot during a stop on his national campus tour at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

The university went on lockdown, and officials said that a suspect was detained at the scene. Videos on social media showed students scattering after the shot rang out. Video of the apparent suspect shows an older white male being held on the ground.

‘A great guy from top to bottom. GOD BLESS HIM!’

President Donald Trump led many in calling for prayers for Kirk, who is the founder and CEO of Turning Point USA.

“We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot. A great guy from top to bottom. GOD BLESS HIM!” wrote the president.

“Say a prayer for Charlie Kirk, a genuinely good guy and a young father,” wrote Republican Vice President JD Vance.

“Prayers for Charlie Kirk. An incredible Christian, American, and human being. May the healing hand of Jesus Christ be upon him,” replied War Secretary Pete Hegseth.

“We love you Charlie Kirk. Praying for you,” wrote HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

“I am being briefed by law enforcement following the violence directed at Charlie Kirk during his visit to Utah Valley University today,” responded Utah Gov. Spencer Cox (R). “Those responsible will be held fully accountable. Violence has no place in our public life. Americans of every political persuasion must unite in condemning this act. Our prayers are with Charlie, his family, and all those affected.”

“Please join us in praying for our good friend, Charlie Kirk,” wrote Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana.

“Charlie Kirk is a great friend and an amazing person! Lara, Luke, Carolina and I will be praying for him, his wife Erika and their 2 children,” said Eric Trump.

“Absolutely disgusting and disturbing video from Charlie Kirk shooting today. Hoping for the best for him and his family. Anybody who is happy about this is a disgusting human,” said sports commentator Dave Portnoy.

Even some on the left condemned the attack.

Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk is alive but in critical condition, multiple sources told Blaze News.

Kirk was shot in the neck at Utah Valley University on Wednesday after which he was promptly taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for his injuries. Several videos show profuse amounts of bleeding from his neck immediately following the shooting.

At the time of this writing, multiple sources told Blaze News that Kirk is alive and has a pulse but is in critical condition.

A suspect was detained moments after the shooting, with one bystander telling Eva Terry of Deseret News that the alleged shooter appeared to be wearing a worker’s uniform, according to an interview obtained by Blaze News.

A UVU spokesperson said Kirk was shot “from a building about 200 yards away,” confirming that they have a suspect in custody.

Charlie Kirk was targeted in an assassination attempt at Utah Valley University Wednesday afternoon — and the left immediately showed us who they are.

Before any details were known — other than the fact that Kirk, one of the most influential American conservatives, had been shot in the neck — talking heads on MSNBC, for example, had already begun a campaign to blame Kirk and the Make America Great Again movement for the attempted assassination.

On MSNBC’s live coverage of the tragic news, Democrat Matthew Dowd seemingly blamed Kirk.

“He’s been one of the most divisive, especially divisive younger figures, in this who has constantly sort of pushing this sort of hate speech,” Dowd said. “… And I always go back to: Hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions. And I think that’s the environment we’re in — that just you can’t stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have and then saying these awful words and then not expect awful actions to take place.”

MSNBC anchor Katy Tur, meanwhile, seized on the moment to condemn Kirk as a “divisive figure, polarizing, lightning rod.”

CNN anchor Boris Sanchez sang the same tune, using CNN’s airwaves to describe Kirk as “not without controversy. He’s taken a lot of controversial positions when it comes to the culture war. It’s part of his brand.”

The implication of such descriptors is clear: Those who would use this moment to describe Kirk as “divisive” and “controversial” and “polarizing” are blame-shifting and suggesting that Kirk had it coming.

The rhetoric on social media was even more toxic and upsetting, as people who dislike Kirk celebrated what happened to him. The following are just a few of the sick examples of leftists celebrating:

“Sympathy for your enemies is cruelty for your friends. I don’t support Charlie Kirk, f*** you,” one person said.”Condoning violence, especially unjust violence is evil. Acknowledging consequences for rhetoric that condones and makes excuses for unjust violence is simply logical. The man allegedly seen on video stabbing Iryna Zarutska on a train in Charlotte, North Carolina, has reportedly provided an explanation for his actions.

Decarlos Brown Jr. has a lengthy criminal past that includes charges for simple assault, resisting a public officer, communicating threats, theft, and more, according to WBTV.

Brown has also been charged with murder for a stabbing that happened on August 22 on a Lynx Blue Line train in the south end of Charlotte.

‘They lashed out on her. Whoever was working the material, they lashed out on her.’

A 33-year-old woman claiming to be Brown’s sister, Tracey Brown, spoke to the Daily Mail and claimed that she had a phone call with Brown six days after he was arrested, on August 28.

In the recording, the man reported to be Brown is heard telling the woman believed to be Tracey, “I hurt my hand stabbing her. I don’t even know the lady.”

He continued, “I never said not one word to the lady at all. That’s scary, ain’t it? Why would somebody stab somebody for no reason?”

The rest of the alleged phone call with Brown made its way onto social media sites like X, in which Brown claims “materials” inside his body forced him to stab the woman.

“So, you said something in your body did what?” Tracey is heard asking.

“The material used in my body stabbed the lady,” Brown replied.

“You know, that’s not me. I’m talking about just for no reason. Well, since they did that, since they did that, now they got to investigate the material my body was exposed to. Since they want to do all that, now they got to investigate.”

Tracey, trying to find reason within her brother’s answer, then asked, “I’m just trying to understand, out of all people, why her?”

“Hey, I don’t have nothing,” Brown said back, referring to something in his body as “they.”

“They just lashed out on them, and that’s what happened. They lashed out on her. Whoever was working the material, they lashed out on her.”

The sister also asked her brother what he was doing on the train that day and where he was going, according to the audio.

“I was going downtown to the hospital to tell them … that I’m trying to get rid of the material … to stop going crazy,” Brown replied.

Blaze News could not independently verify the authenticity of the audio or the identities of the speakers on it.

Speaking with the Daily Mail on Tuesday, Tracey, an Amazon delivery associate, said Brown has gone from a “protective” older brother to a person who believes the government is controlling his brain with a microchip that was inserted while he was asleep.

Brown also allegedly believed 23-year-old Zarutska was reading his mind at the time of the stabbing.

Tracey said Brown has tried to get admitted into the hospital several times over the last few years, including calling police about the alleged implant in his body.

These claims are corroborated via a January 2025 charge for misusing 911, with court filings showing that Brown believed he was given a “man-made” material that controlled his eating, walking, and speech.

“I strongly feel like he should not have been on the streets at all,” Tracey told the Daily Mail. “I’m going to be honest. I’m not blaming anyone for his actions, except for the state. I’m blaming the state for letting him down as far as seeking help.”

The sister continued, “When you have mentally ill people seeking help, and you’re running tests on them, and you clearly see that you are dealing with a psychosis on an acute level, you do not let them go back into society.”

She added, “He was a high risk. He was not in his right mind. He was not safe for society. … And now an innocent woman is dead.”

Tracey provided several pictures to the U.K. outlet, claiming they are of her and her brother, Brown. She also claimed that she visited Brown at Mecklenburg County Jail last week and spoke to him through a glass window.

Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was shot in the neck on Wednesday at Utah Valley University while the conservative commentator kicked off his college campus tour.

Multiple reporters and attendees confirmed that Kirk was shot at the UVU event, although the extent of his injuries has not yet been confirmed.

A video taken shortly after the shots rang out showed students dispersing throughout the quad. Another video shows the alleged suspect being detained by law enforcement following the shooting.

One bystander told Eva Terry of Deseret News that the shooter appeared to be wearing a workers uniform, according to an interview obtained by Blaze News.

Just moments before shots were apparently fired at Kirk, the 31-year-old MAGA firebrand uploaded a promotional post to his X page.

“Utah Valley University is FIRED UP and READY for the first stop back on the American Comeback Tour,” Kirk wrote in the post.

Multiple lawmakers and conservative allies have called for Americans across the country to join them in prayer for Kirk, his wife, and their two children.

“Say a prayer for Charlie Kirk, a genuinely good guy and a young father,” Vice President JD Vance said in a post on X.

“We are closely monitoring reports of the tragic shooting involving Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University,” FBI Director Kash Patel said in a post on X. “Our thoughts are with Charlie, his loved ones, and everyone affected. Agents will be on the scene quickly and the FBI stands in full support of the ongoing response and investigation.”

Former Ohio state Sen. Nina Turner (D) doesn’t appear to care to get to the heart of why a 23-year-old Ukrainian woman was brutally stabbed and killed while riding a train in North Carolina by the suspect, 34-year-old black man named Decarlos Brown.

And she made this clear during a fiery debate with BlazeTV host Liz Wheeler on Chris Cuomo’s NewsNation show.

Wheeler brought up that not only is “the brokenness of the nuclear family” an issue when it comes to raising children who turn into nonviolent and sane adults, but “the brokenness of the black family” is also a major issue.

That’s when Turner shouted, “Oh no! You’re not going to sit up there and talk about the brokenness of the black family. How dare you?”

“Do not single out the black family,” Turner added. “The nerve of you.”

While Wheeler tried to continue speaking to make her point, Turner continued to speak loudly over her.

“This wasn’t even a spicy comment,” Wheeler reflects on “The Liz Wheeler Show.”

“Even Barack Obama spoke about the brokenness of the black family and the fact that fatherlessness, when children are raised without a present father, this leads to drastic increases in the number of crimes that they commit,” she adds.

And she has the receipts.

“But if we are honest with ourselves, we’ll admit that what too many fathers also are is missing, missing from too many lives and too many homes. They have abandoned their responsibilities, acting like boys instead of men. And the foundations of our families are weaker because of it,” Obama said in a 2008 speech.

“You and I know how true this is, true everywhere, but nowhere is it more true than in the African American community. We know that more than half of all black children live in single-parent households, a number that has doubled — doubled — since we were children,” Obama continued.

“We know the statistics — that children who grow up without a father are five times more likely to live in poverty and commit crime; nine times more likely to drop out of schools and 20 times more likely to end up in prison. They are more likely to have behavioral problems, or run away from home or become teenage parents themselves. And the foundations of our community are weaker because of it,” he added.

“Funny,” Wheeler comments. “I didn’t hear in the background, Nina Turner screeching ‘How dare you?’ and ‘The nerve of you!’ when Barack Obama made these exact same points.”

A crowd of protesters surrounded and accosted U.S. Border Patrol agents while they conducted an operation in Rochester, New York, on Tuesday. One Democrat who was present for the incident denied the severity of the situation when asked by Blaze News.

Videos posted on X by Monroe County Legislator Rachel Barnhart (D) show the crowd yelling for the federal agents to leave while they waited for two men on a roof to come down. According to Barnhart, most of the agents eventually left the scene, but someone in the crowd slashed a tire on a Border Patrol SUV.

The Department of Homeland Security has said assaults on federal agents conducting immigration enforcement operations have increased over 1,000%.

“The collective action worked,” Barnhart said about the mob showing up during the operation. “Immigration activists and regular neighbors came out as well. Probably 200 people here to bear witness and let ICE know they’re not welcome in Rochester.”

While Barnhart said she disagreed with the attack on the federal vehicle, she said preventing the arrest of the men on the roof was more important.

“Not one protester was arrested. Pastors, politicians, labor leaders, neighbors & activists made their values clear. Worrying about tires more than human beings says more about you than us,” she continued.

When reached for comment on the crowd-accosting agents, Barnhart told Blaze News, “I don’t think I can help you because I didn’t see anyone accost agents yesterday. There were no interactions I observed other than protesters yelling at them as they left the scene.”

Merriam-Webster defines “accost” as “to approach and speak to (someone) in an often challenging or aggressive way.”

Another protester told WHAM her reason for showing up to the scene was to prevent the arrest of illegal aliens.

“They’re here putting on a roof, trying to make a dollar and paying taxes on that dollar, and ICE was here bothering them. So I came to bother ICE,” Ruth Reeves said. “City by city, state by state, we have to stand up, and we have to fight, and we have to tell them we’re not standing for this anymore.”

The Department of Homeland Security has said assaults on federal agents conducting immigration enforcement operations have increased over 1,000% since President Donald Trump took office. While acknowledging the challenging environment agents are now facing, DHS has made it clear enforcement operations will not only continue but increase with its bigger budget going into effect in October at the start of the new fiscal year.

DHS has launched several enhanced operations in sanctuary cities and states across the country because Democrats refuse to cooperate with the federal government.

The mainstream media blackout of the heinous attack on a Ukrainian woman has led to a campaign to fund murals of her visage in major U.S. cities.

Iryna Zarutska, 23, died after being stabbed on a public train in Charlotte, North Carolina, on August 22. Police arrested 34-year-old Decarlos Brown and charged him with murder. Brown has numerous prior arrests, including convictions for armed robbery and larceny.

‘The majority of the media … decided that her murder was not worth reporting on originally because it does not fit a preferred narrative.’

Intercom CEO Eoghan McCabe proposed the idea on social media and said he would donate his own funds to the effort.

“I am offering $500k in $10k grants to paint murals of the face of Iryna Zarutska in prominent US city locations,” the Irish entrepreneur posted on Tuesday.

A link to a GiveSendGo donation page showed that the campaign had raised more than $59K from other supporters on the way to a goal of $100K. News of the campaign reached tech billionaire Elon Musk, who said he would donate as well.

“I will contribute $1M,” he responded on the X social media platform.

Many on the right have excoriated the mainstream media for the sparse coverage of Zarutska’s death while pointing out their exuberance in circulating more politically correct criminal incidents.

The outrage over the case escalated when video of the brutal attack was released but ignored by much of the media. It went viral on social media.

On Tuesday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt pressed the issue and slammed the media during her media conference.

“This is pure evil on full display,” Leavitt said to reporters. “The most enraging and unacceptable part of this story is that her death was entirely preventable. Decarlos Brown never should have been on that train that night.”

“Perhaps most shamefully of all, the majority of the media, many outlets in this room, decided that her murder was not worth reporting on originally because it does not fit a preferred narrative,” she added.

“We will install as many posters and murals across this great nation as funds afford so that the important conversations her slaying provokes may perpetuate and drive much needed change,” reads the message on the donation page.

“Eoghan’s team will ensure all installations are in high-visibility locations, are well executed, and are completed legally,” it concluded.

Also on Tuesday, the Department of Justice added a federal charge against Brown of committing an act causing death on a mass transportation system. If found guilty of that charge, he could face life in prison or the death penalty.

A Texas A&M student whistleblower recently provided Republican state Rep. Brian Harrison with video evidence that she was thrown out of a children’s literature class for objecting to a woke instructor’s propagation of perverse gender ideology and DEI.

The whistleblower provided Harrison not only with offending course materials and audio from her disheartening conversation about the propagandist with Texas A&M President Gen. Mark Welsh but with emails from the English department head, who spoke of an apparent deal to keep the student out of the class.

Harrison, certain the controversy over the taxpayer-funded propaganda would have otherwise been swept under the rug, brought the matter to Republican Gov. Greg Abbott’s attention as well as to the attention of the Trump administration, demanding immediate action.

Things have since gone sideways for the indoctrinator central to the story as well as for her enablers.

While two people have already been removed from their positions, this controversy is far from settled.

In addition to the university’s Board of Regents asking Texas A&M University System Chancellor Glenn Hegar to “audit every course and ensure full compliance with all applicable laws,” which might flush out more propagandists, there are now calls for Welsh’s removal.

“America and Texans can now see how dishonest and how liberal the leadership of this once great university is,” Harrison said. “We need a lot of people to be fired, and we need a lot of budgets to be cut so that Texas can lead the nation once again.”

How it started

Senior lecturer Melissa McCoul, whose stated areas of research include “gender studies,” can be heard discussing “gender and sexuality” at the outset of the video captured by the student whistleblower.

A slide titled “Gender Unicorn” can be seen projected at the front of class. This Trans Student Educational Resources graphic suggests that so-called gender identity and gender expression are distinct from sex assigned at birth and that there are sexes besides male, female, and intersex.

‘You are under a misconception that what I am saying is illegal.’

According to TSER, this graphic was created as an alternative to “The Genderbread Person” to better reflect “genders outside of the western gender binary.”

Harrison obtained other instructional materials from the children’s literature course that indicate the gender unicorn was by no means the most provocative piece of gender agitprop pushed in the class.

For instance, one slide emphasized that it’s not “too ‘adult'” to talk to young children about “queerness” and complained that “heteronormativity leads to compulsory heterosexuality.” There were also DEI and critical race theory materials in the class.

When McCoul proceeded to the next slide, which was titled “TRANS REP,” the student whistleblower spoke up: “I’m not entirely sure this is legal to be teaching because according to our president, there’s only two genders, and he said that he would be freezing agencies funding programs that promote gender ideology.”

“This also very much goes against, not only myself, but a lot of people’s religious beliefs,” the student continued. “And so I am not going to participate in this because it’s not legal, and I don’t want to promote something that is against our president’s laws as well as against my religious beliefs.”

McCoul said in response, “You are under a misconception that what I am saying is illegal.”

When the student pushed back, volunteering to read President Donald Trump’s executive order concerning the government’s recognition of two sexes, male and female, the lecturer said, “You do have the right to leave. What we are doing is not illegal, and if you would like to make the claim that it is, you need to talk to the department head.”

McCoul further expressed doubt that the student would be “effective in stopping me from teaching things that are biologically true because I do have the legal and ethical authority, … and it’s time for you to leave.”

“It took tremendous courage for a relatively young lady to stand up to an authority figure alone as a sole voice in that class — to somebody who had the potential to fail her, to harm her professionally,” Harrison told Blaze News. “And she had the courage not just to stand up to the professor but to take her concerns all the way to the president of the university and to have the foresight to record him.”

‘I know for a fact that Texas A&M knew about this for a long time.’

An audio recording obtained by Harrison allegedly captures Welsh, Barack Obama’s chief of staff of the U.S. Air Force, shutting down the possibility of McCoul’s termination and acknowledging that other students took issue with McCoul’s instruction.

“You’re trying to pick a fight here. What do you want?” Welsh appears to say in the recording.

“I’m not trying to pick a fight,” the student whistleblower responds. “No, sir, I’m not.”

After the student confirms that she is seeking McCoul’s ouster, Welsh appears to say, “Okay, well, that’s not happening.”

Harrison, who also obtained audio of the university president apparently indicating that he supports the development of new LGBT courses, said that Welsh’s response was “condescending.”

“I know for a fact that Texas A&M knew about this for a long time, that they covered it up, and then, instead of punishing the professor and the department head and the president, the leadership of Texas A&M concocted what was basically a cover-up scheme,” Harrison said. “They offered the student a deal to keep her quiet.”

Screenshots of emails between the head of the English department, Emily Johansen, and the student, show that Johansen: flagged the student’s “disruptive behavior”; referenced McCoul’s request that the student “no longer attend class sessions for the rest of the semester”; suggested the student’s in-class recordings were unacceptable; and alluded to a deal whereby the student could keep her grade but no longer attend the class.

“They tried to silence her, and they tried to keep the public from ever seeing that video,” Harrison said.

On Sunday, the conservative representative asked Gov. Abbott to take action and asked for the Departments of Education and Health and Human Services to “take any appropriate action(s) to ensure that Texas universities receiving federal funds are complying with President Trump’s Executive Orders.”

Blaze News has reached out to McCoul, Johansen, the HHS, the Education Department, and Vickie Spillers, the executive director of the Texas A&M Board of Regents, for comment. Abbott’s office referred Blaze News to his tweets on X regarding the topic.

How it’s going

Hours after Harrison went scorched-earth on Texas A&M, Welsh announced that he had directed the provost to immediately remove the College of Arts and Sciences dean and the English department head from their administrative positions.

“Good,” Gov. Abbott responded. “Now, fire the professor who acted contrary to Texas law.”

The following day, Welsh claimed in an update that after it became clear that the children’s literature course “contained content that did not align with any reasonable expectation of standard curriculum for the course, … college and department leadership worked with students to offer alternative opportunities for students to complete the course, and made changes to ensure this course content does not continue in future semesters.”

‘The president of the university must be fired.’

According to Welsh, he only learned on Monday that “the college continued to teach content that was inconsistent with the published course description for another course this fall.”

Welsh further indicated in the update that Texas A&M “abides by state and federal law” and that he had both fired the professor and tasked department heads with conducting an audit of course offerings to ensure they align with the course descriptions.

The university system’s board of regents also announced it had asked Texas A&M Chancellor Glenn Hegar to “audit every course and ensure full compliance with all applicable laws.”

Alvin Lui, president of the parental rights advocacy group Courage Is a Habit, cast doubt on the value of these audits — audits Harrison deemed “pathetic.”

“It doesn’t matter what the curriculum says when you have these teachers that are trained at woke teacher colleges, and all teacher colleges are woke,” Lui said. “They teach everything through the lens of a Marxist. They teach everything through the lens of a critical race theorist or a queer theorist. So it doesn’t matter what the syllabus says. It doesn’t matter what the course catalog says.”

Not enough

When asked whether the terminations of the two administrators and the lecturer were sufficient, Harrison told Blaze News, “Absolutely not. Not even close. A fish rots from the head.”

“I’m a proud member of the fighting Texas Aggie class of 2004, and it’s obvious now that I care more about Texas A&M than the leadership of Texas A&M does,” the Republican state representative continued. “We have a code of honor: Aggies do not lie, cheat, or steal, or tolerate those who do, and if the president of Texas A&M cannot abide by that code of conduct himself, that’s more than sufficient grounds to fire him.”

“This is a taxpayer-funded employee of the state of Texas,” Harrison continued. “The people of the state of Texas are being taxed out of their homes, and they damn well don’t want their money weaponized against them, their children, and their values to promote leftist indoctrination. The president of the university must be fired.”

‘Don’t believe your child is safe from the woke mind virus spreading on college campuses just because they’re in a state like Texas.’

Harrison suggested further that Texas A&M is not the only university in the state infected by DEI and gender ideology.

“Almost every single public university has an entire — not just a class or two — an entire undergraduate minor program in LGBTQ transgender studies. People think we’re the bastion of bold Republican leadership. That’s a myth,” Harrison said. “The Texas Republican leadership in this state is weak, establishment, liberal, progressive.”

When asked about next steps, Harrison referred Blaze News to his letter to Abbott where he asked the governor to direct his politically appointed regents at all of Texas’ public universities to immediately “take all necessary action” to purge all remaining DEI and LGBT propaganda instruction and activities. In the letter, he also asked Abbott to call back the legislature for a special session to pass a total ban on such indoctrination within any state agency.

Corey DeAngelis, a senior fellow at the American Culture Project and a visiting fellow at the American Institute for Economic Research, told Blaze News, “DEI ideology needs to DIE. Gender ideology must be rooted out of all academic institutions if we want our country to return to sanity. The university radicals want to continue pushing our society off the rails, but we can save America by letting sane people take the wheel.”

“This incident proves red states are not immune from woke ideology. Don’t believe your child is safe from the woke mind virus spreading on college campuses just because they’re in a state like Texas,” DeAngelis continued. “The socialists infiltrate academia to brainwash your kids and advance their agenda. We must all be vigilant and fight back against the lunacy at our universities,” DeAngelis added.

Lui noted that Americans are mistaken in thinking that the president’s executive orders and laws alone will neutralize leftist indoctrination efforts. Instead, Lui suggested that Americans and American institutions must take proactive steps as the student whistleblower had in this case, using policy and laws as tools on the offensive.

Former talk-show host Tucker Carlson and businessman Mark Cuban had an uncomfortable exchange over the topic of the Russia-Ukraine war earlier this week.

The two stars appeared at the All-In Summit on Monday, hosted by the “All-In” podcast, a business and technology show hosted by entrepreneurs Chamath Palihapitiya, Jason Calacanis, David Sacks, and David Friedberg.

‘Forcing other people to help is not charity. It’s vanity.’

Cuban appeared first, with the panel jumping into the topic of fixing America’s health care. This led Cuban to bring up his latest venture, a pharmaceutical website that sells drugs at cost, with the URL getting at least eight mentions in about 15 minutes.

When Carlson appeared on stage, he immediately mocked the consistent plugs.

When asked how to identify the line between “democracy” and “pandering,” Carlson offered a hilarious answer.

“Where is the line? I mean, I can identify it: It’s at costplusdrugs.com,” Carlson said, poking fun at Cuban’s business.

Less than 10 minutes passed before Sacks, the White House AI and crypto czar under President Trump, asked Cuban about “whether we should be sending money to Ukraine or not.”

“Were you in favor of that?” Sacks inquired.

“Honestly, I don’t have a good answer,” Cuban replied. “I can make an argument both ways, and half my family is Ukrainian, from my grandparents. Personally, I think we should help, but I don’t have a studied answer for you.”

This led to the most contentious part of the show, with Carlson cornering Cuban on his position.

“How much money have you sent to Ukraine?” the former Fox News host asked the billionaire.

“None,” Cuban revealed.

This did not stop Carlson’s questions.

“Oh, so what do you mean by ‘we’?” Carlson continued. Cuban was silent, responding only with a shoulder shrug.

“You’re the one whose family’s from Ukraine. Like, why don’t you send them a billion dollars?” Carlson piled on.

“Because I’m trying to fix health care,” Cuban retorted.

Tucker, not standing down, then asked, “Why don’t you fix their health care if you’re, like, so deep? If you think we need to help, why don’t you start? How about you first? I noticed that’s never even an option for anybody.”

The crowd erupted in applause in support of Carlson’s rhetoric.

“It’s like, ‘We need to help!'” the podcaster added. “That’s not what charity is. Forcing other people to help is not charity. It’s vanity.”

Calacanis then jumped in and saved Cuban with comments about the war and joked that President Trump was going to turn a profit from all the chaos in Eastern Europe.

Much of Carlson’s commentary on the panel was focused on population replacement in Western countries and the unaffordability of homes, which is stagnating population growth.

Other highlights included Carlson being asked if he is anti-Semitic, if Jeffrey Epstein was a spy, and if Russian President Vladimir Putin is a war criminal.

Recently, my wife and I spent a night in Milwaukee. I was there for work, and she came along just for the fun of it. We left the kids with our parents and had 30 peaceful hours all to ourselves.

When you are in the thick of raising young kids, getting away for just one night feels like a hard reset or some kind of meditative retreat that leaves you clear in both mind and spirit. It was a good trip, it was a fun trip, it was a reflective trip.

We sat outside on the roof at Benelux in the Third Ward imagining life if we never left. If we never had kids. If we never changed. If we just … stayed.

We lived in Milwaukee for a few years before we had kids. We rented a big loft with concrete floors and high ceilings. It was just one big, barren, concrete room. The only walls were the ones separating the bathroom from the rest of the place. It was up on the eighth floor; we had a great view of downtown.

We used old shipping pallets to divide the room. We didn’t have any money back then. We still don’t, but we have more than we did. When we moved to Milwaukee, we didn’t have jobs. I convinced the landlord to rent us the apartment without proof of income or proof of employment. I don’t know if it was possible because things were just really different before, because she was just really nice, or because I was just really convincing. It was probably a mix of all three.

Cart blanche

A few weeks after we moved, we found a shopping cart abandoned by a bus stop. We took it home and used it every week at the grocery store. We would push it to store empty, buy our groceries, and then push it, now completely full, back to the apartment again, stowing it next to the front door until next week’s trip. It was efficient and worked well, and I am sure we looked absolutely absurd.

We had a great time there. Those few years in the concrete loft before we had kids gave us a lot of great memories and a great start to our lives together. But going back and visiting was odd. We hadn’t been back since we left years ago, and finding ourselves in the same places completely unchanged as people who have very much changed felt somehow wrong.

Don’t look back

It felt like some strange corruption of memories or maybe like we were somewhere we weren’t supposed to be. Almost like someone might come up to us and ask, “What are you doing here?” It felt like we were taking a detour down some road that’s been blocked off and just looking around for a bit before getting back on the highway again. It was strange and surreal.

Maybe it’s because life only goes one way. We can’t go back in time. We can’t change the past. We can’t revisit who we were. Maybe in some way, going back to where we lived before feels like attempting to do something we cannot do. It’s like building a replica of some old world city here in the new one. It’s just not right. It’s not as it should be. We can’t go back, and why would we want to anyway?

The path not taken

Well, I don’t want to go back and live life as it was. Walking around there, just us two, talking about how we were then and how we are now, all we could really say was that while we loved being there when we were there and that those memories are ones we treasure still, we are glad we are no longer there. I don’t just mean physically there, either. I mean mentally, spiritually, and situationally there. We very much like where we are now and wouldn’t change it for anything.

That kind of life could have happened to us if we let it. The years would have passed at the same rate, we would be the same age, but we wouldn’t be the same. And we both sat there together, slightly nostalgic for who we were — and grateful for who we are today.

Part of the plan

I think that’s how we are supposed to feel. All of it. We’re supposed to love those memories of youth, but we’re also supposed to cringe a little bit at our past feelings or opinions. We’re supposed to not quite respect our past selves. We’re supposed to laugh at how naive we were. It means we’ve grown and that’s a good thing. And we’re supposed to feel kind of weird going back to where we once lived. We’re supposed to feel a little out of step there in that foreign world of the past. We are no longer who we were, that’s the truth, and that’s OK.

The next morning, we left on the ferry to take us back. Watching Milwaukee disappear into the distance as we headed east across Lake Michigan, we were glad we had a day away, thankful for the lives we lived years ago, and happy we were going home to who we are today

A 32-year-old career criminal allegedly beat to death a 76-year-old man at a Chicago bus stop Monday night, WLS-TV reported.

But his night of crime reportedly was only beginning.

The station noted that he has a lengthy criminal record spanning nearly two decades.

Surveillance video shows two people standing at a bus stop near 95th and Halsted Streets on the city’s south side, the station said.

WLS noted that the silent clip shows the 76-year-old man hitting the 32-year-old suspect, but it’s unclear what led to that altercation. However, the 32-year-old retaliates, punching the 76-year-old and shoving him to the ground, the station said.

The station added that it paused the video at that point because what follows “is too disturbing,” noting that the 32-year-old goes on to “beat and kick the victim multiple times, before eventually walking away.”

WLS said Chicago police responded to the area around 9:15 p.m., found the 76-year-old victim on the ground with apparent trauma to the head, and took him to a hospital, where he later died.

With that — according to a police report the station said it obtained — the same suspect carjacked an SUV from a nearby McDonald’s.

A 60-year-old grandmother told WLS she was in the restaurant when the suspect entered her vehicle while her grandchildren — a 3-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy — were in the backseat. The station said the suspect threatened to shoot the children and ordered them out of the SUV.

WLS, citing the police report, said the suspect took off in the green Kia Telluride. However, the SUV’s owner told the station she tracked the vehicle’s location through the girl’s iPad still inside it.

Soon the suspect crashed the SUV in Schererville, Indiana, and police arrested the driver, the station said. Schererville is about 35 minutes southeast of the initial crime scene on the south side of Chicago.

WLS said it’s not naming the suspect because he hasn’t yet been charged with a crime in the case, but the station noted that he has a lengthy criminal record spanning nearly two decades.

The Department of Homeland Security has issued a stern warning after a foreign-born sex offender in Minnesota who recently worked for the state Department of Education was picked up by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Earlier this summer, news broke that Wilson Tindi, a 43-year-old native of Kenya, was working as the director of the Internal Audit and Advisory Services division of the Minnesota Department of Education despite pleading guilty to felony criminal sexual conduct in 2015.

In June, just three months ago, Tindi was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence and refusing a field sobriety test. He has been charged with three misdemeanors.

Within hours of the initial report from Alpha News about Tindi’s troubling history, Blaze News learned Tindi was no longer employed at MDE.

Now Tindi is back in the news for yet another arrest — this time by immigration officers.

Though the date of his arrest is unclear, Alpha News reported on Monday that members of ICE and other law enforcement agencies arrested Tindi at his residence in Plymouth, Minnesota, just outside the Twin Cities. Tindi did not seem surprised to see the officers — according to reporter Liz Collin, who rode along with St. Paul ICE field director Sam Olson — and was placed in handcuffs in his garage, standing next to his BMW.

Footage of the arrest shows that Tindi was afterward processed in a detention center, but the status of his case remains unclear. A major complication with the case is that Tindi is not in the U.S. illegally. He became a lawful permanent resident in 2014, even though he reportedly overstayed the six-month visa issued to him in 2005, had a previous application for permanent residency denied, and later spent 18 months in ICE custody following his aggravated felony conviction.

“We really have to go through, work with our legal team to make sure that the conviction would qualify for removability from the U.S. So it did take us kind of a long time and a lot of research with help from our legal team, who are amazing. We did come up with [an] immigration charge because of his criminality,” Olson told Collin. “We do have a warrant of arrest for him.”

“We’re law enforcement officers, here to get the worst of the worst off of the streets and back to their country,” he added.

Whether Tindi is slated for deportation is unclear. A search of his information in the ICE detainee database did not yield any results.

Tindi and the office of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (DFL), who oversees the two state departments that employed Tindi, did not respond to a request for comment from Blaze News.

In addition to deporting those who broke the law to enter the U.S., it seems DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and the rest of the Trump administration are taking a stand against foreign-born legal residents who commit non-immigration crimes while they are here.

“It is a privilege to be granted a green card to live in the United States of America. When you break our laws, that privilege should be revoked, and you should not be in this country,” Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement to Blaze News.

“President Trump and Secretary Noem have been clear: Criminal aliens are not welcome in the United States.”
