Authorities say “goal of the conspiracy was to establish a basis for further illegal crossings based on the birth certificate.”

A U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) agent has been arrested in Texas on human smuggling charges, according to reports.

On Friday, an employee of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) identified as Jorge Alonso was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant for charges of smuggling and conspiracy to commit smuggling.

Alonso was assigned to the Rio Grande Valley Sector at the time of his arrest, according to a CBP statement provided to NewsNation correspondent Ali Bradley.

“The DA in Cameron County saying Jorge Alonso encouraged/coached an undocumented immigrant to cross a port of entry using false claims including a fraudulent U.S. birth certificate,” Bradley reported on X.

“Authorities said that the goal of the conspiracy was to establish a basis for further illegal crossings based on the birth certificate.”

An investigation is being conducted by the Cameron County Attorney’s Office, the Department of Homeland Security, and CBP.

Alonso’s arrest comes after two American soldiers were busted for smuggling illegal aliens along the southern border in April.

Army reservist Brandon Broadhead was reportedly apprehended while transporting a pair of illegal aliens after he attempted to evade a Border Patrol checkpoint in Kinney County, TX.

“Kinney County Sheriff Brad Coe says the cartels are going after everyone and are having success because they’re promising quick, easy money,” Bradley reported at the time.

“Broadhead says he was promised $5k to transport the two individuals and because his mom was sick and not working, he said yes.”

Days prior, Texas guardsman Savion Johnson was arrested while allegedly smuggling illegals in an official government vehicle and leading authorities on a dangerous high-speed pursuit in Kinney County, as InfoWars previously reported.
