While many on the right mocked the inept protests from Democratic politicians against President Donald Trump’s speech to a joint session of Congress, even some liberals were disappointed and angered by the response.
Democrats opposed the policies espoused by the president in his speech by wearing pink and by holding up placards with statements like, “Musk Steals,” “Save Medicaid,” and “Protect Veterans.” Democratic Rep. Al Green of Texas was much more vocal when he jumped up and yelled at the president, but he was rewarded by getting kicked out of the House chamber.
‘WHAT THE F*** KIND OF BULLS*** PARTY IS THIS???’
Many on the left were unimpressed and demotivated by the impotent Democratic opposition, including Democratic strategist and MSNBC host Symone Sanders Townsend.
“Why are democrats just sitting there? The signs are not landing. It is giving bingo! Sigh,” she said in one post.
“B42. B42 … BINGO,” she added in a separate post. “They are not taking back the house with these visuals.”
“The placards are some of the dumbest s*** I’ve ever seen. You’re IN CONGRESS … USE YOUR F***ING WORDS!!!” responded Elie Mystal, liberal political commentator.
“WHAT THE F*** KIND OF BULLS*** PARTY IS THIS??? WHAT IN THE ACTUAL F*** ARE DEMS DOING THERE???” he added eloquently.
Daily Kos reporter Oliver Willis demanded that Democrats respond to Trump with strength and not weakness.
“Suburban swing voters, and all voters, respond to strength. Trump is a fascist idiot but he communicates strength and while the Democrats are on the right side of issues they look weak. And evil strength will win vs good weakness,” he wrote on Bluesky.
“I guarantee you they thought their wacky signs and pink clothes did the trick,” he added.
“Democrats always say they are going to fight like hell but we don’t even see them fighting like heck,” read another popular response. “Open defiance is a good start.”
