A Democratic congressional candidate from Oregon was afraid that her future in politics was in jeopardy after a video of her as a dominatrix in Manhattan appeared online. But she has now decided to embrace the video and trudge onward for a potential seat in Washington.
The New York Post reported that Courtney Casgraux, who is running for office to represent the western suburbs in Portland, was shocked to find that a video of her in a Midtown BDSM dungeon was anonymously posted on Reddit in late August.
“[I was] just panicking … Then I was like, ‘Who did this?’ and I just started calling every single person that I pretty much knew from my past … I was like hyperventilating, crying,” Casgraux said.
Casgraux, who is 41 years old, appears to have worked as a dominatrix in her younger days, charging a whopping $500 per hour. But while she was staying with a friend in the Bronx during the COVID-19 pandemic, she decided to step back into the business. She reportedly worked at Donatella’s Dungeon, a club still operating on Sixth Avenue and West 39th Street.
“To shame me for something that helped create the life that I have today where I have opportunity … made me really mad,” Casgraux said. “Because it felt like an attack on women, not just an attack on me.”
Instead of folding to the frustration of having the video of her released into the world, she apparently decided to “reclaim her sexuality” by posting a Playboy profile and selling photos of herself for up to $150 each.
Casgraux’s congressional page describes a bit about how she views politics, and the reasons why she has decided to run for office.
“Looking at the national landscape, I grew up with leaders who didn’t look like me, or share my story,” the page reads. “I didn’t see congressmen who sought the support of social services, or senators who fought tirelessly to start their own businesses while keeping the lights on at home.”
“My backstory presents an incredible testament to the power of resilience and grit. Having fought through countless obstacles and difficulties that so many working-class people endure, my life experience has only served to reinforce my commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.”
“Despite any setbacks, I, like so many Americans, have emerged stronger and more compassionate than ever, with an unwavering commitment to ensure that everyone has a seat at the table.”
At the time of this report, Casgraux has raised $757 from a total of 13 donors.
